Stuff. Things. Yeah...
Using the user pic because I can, mmkay?
I met my separated-at-birth twin on Friday at Jo's wedding rehearsal. I know Jo, and I've met Chris a couple of times. That's it. I didn't know anyone else there. It's always a little awkward, but I'm a big girl now and I can take care of myself. Okay, so it was Friday, and I was a wee bit tired, and didn't feel like being my bouncy and open best, going up to other people and introducing myself. So... I knitted. In the lobby of the Friends meeting house.
The universe moves in mysterious ways...
About 5 minutes later, the door opened. A woman came in. She said, 'Ooh! Sock knitting!' and that was it.
*beam*
She's a couple of years younger than me, she's taller and slimmer than me, and she's wonderfully gregarious. She's actually a better version of me than I am, and if there's ever a film made of my life, she'd be perfect for the role. *grin* She's awesome! Into spinning, knitting, maybe dressmaking and corset making, getting into quilting, comes from a reenactor background. And she works for the British Library, and is Jewish. Really, how cool is that?! I hope she keeps in touch!
Saturday, went to VJs, where I took off my sensible Sketchers and homemade socks and put on my slightly less sensible shoes and some stockings. Not in that order. Much to the entertainment of, well, the guys there. *grin* The wedding was lovely, and I got to read Ten Milk Bottles by Roger McGough, and it all went well. I made people smile, which was the point - to stop it all being too solemn and remind everyone what marriage should be about. Lots and lots of nookie. Really. *grin* So that was great, and I'm glad that I got to help make the day a good one for Jo and Chris. The reception was held at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall, and was also lovely.
ravenlas and I were on the 'Poisoning Pigeons in the Park' table. Heh. The company was excellent, and the food was rather good. So Mazel Tov to the happy couple, and I wish Jo all the best on her return from honeymoon: she's coming back to live in Peebles and go do a creative writing course at Edinburgh uni. Hurrah!
Sunday was Sarah's birthday, and lunch at the new Frankie and Benny's on Foss Islands Road. Yay! Much fun. I have discovered that I don't have Wayne and Hazel's number any more, meh. And the woman who works part-time in the wood shop just down from Silverado on the Shambles a) likes to chat, very much, and b) doesn't eat in Italian restaurants because she was trained to cook Italian food by her mother-in-law. Who comes from near Bari. Which is where my next-door neighbour is from. Small world, eh?
Also, I slept. Went to bed 7:11pm on Sunday, woke up 3 or 4 times (briefly), and slept through to 6:20am. Very nice indeed! Caught up with
o_faolain on the train this morning - very relieved to see him. I'm still a little worried about his health - fingers crossed for everything being okay.
Apart from that, I got very little done at work. It turns out that I'm going to the Unite conference in Orlando this October. Yes!!! Right down the road from Disney!!! My plan: to work my butt off charming our customers and the Unisys guys, then go round as many theme parks as I can. *happy dance* I got a little more done on the tidying, and finally listed some stuff for selling on Amazon.co.uk. Banked the large cheque from remortgaging - soon I will be cc-debt-free! Yay! Got a review written: 2 more to go. Bout of melancholy at teatime; watched Notting Hill on my iPod, but that didn't really help. However, getting the review written in the company of my beloved husband (and a terrible zombie film - bad Kryten makeup, anyone?) has put paid to that. Soon, to bed, perchance to dream.
Tomorrow's plan: write the other review and a half. Write the sequel to Last Chance for Sin. Critique writing group stories. Stuff.
This is bad. And wrong. You should watch it. So I have people to share the OMG WTF 0.o with. :)
