Kill the computer
Jul. 11th, 2006 12:30 pmMy work pc is at it again. I tried running FTP Wanderer, and it rebooted with nary a warning or a BSOD. So I ran the system restore, back to a point where the system guy here has established stops my pc from rebooting at will. And then, once system restore had finished, it rebooted. So I rebooted it properly, uninstalled Yahoo Widgets (previously called Konfabulator), and set SnagIt to not run at startup. Then I rebooted the PC again. And I ran FTP Wanderer and Windows Exploder and put up some files on the company website and closed FTP Wanderer and tidied up the network folder with the files to go up on our site in and decided I needed to check the date of a file online and reopened FTP Wanderer - and it rebooted my pc. Argh!
I'm at the point now where deep breathing and calm thoughts and reading the paper while the bloody thing reboots has given way to fantasies of taking an axe to the damn thing. I hate my pc. As the rhyme goes, 'it only does it to annoy because it knows it teases': well, if it were a sneezing child, it'd be in intensive care by now because I'd have slapped it silly.
