Tunnel to China
Apr. 7th, 2007 10:51 pmWell, I haven't dug that far, but I've done a lot of digging this weekend. I've got up a lot of the couch grass which had invaded the bottom of the garden, and
ravenlas carted a lot of the pebbles through to the front garden. A lot of the remaining pebbles are now dumped in a corner, awaiting my moving my water butt and compost bins onto them. I may get there tomorrow morning... I dug up a very leggy rosemary and lavender and put them in tubs, and they're now in the front garden, which is looking spiffy.
I dug the bed over, and now I've got a bag of 'organic soil improver' and a bag of compost to dig into it before I decide what I want to plant there. Plus, I tried planting the aquatic plants, but of course when I put the tub into the pond, the plants floated away... I have at least 5 decent-sized frogs in the pond, though, which explains the rather large pile of frogspawn in one corner... The house is a tip, and I have a 2-foot tall pile of laundry to put away, but the garden is starting to look a tad less neglected.
I had an unexpected visit from my godson today, who was thoughtful enough to bring along his mum and dad (
medains). It was fabulous to see them all. Hugh is a year old and is walking, climbing onto and off chairs, feeding himself, and generally being a confident and talented boy. Given his parents, I'm not surprised. ;-) I'm still incredibly overwhelmed by being asked to be his godmother. He's an incredible little boy, and I look forward to seeing him grow up.
All this, and Dr Who too! And tomorrow I may go visit Warwick Castle for the first time ever. Yay!
