A new bed is a great idea. :) If you can, try a memory foam mattress. They're great, very comfy. I'm glad you're less tired - good luck with re-establishing a good sleep pattern.
The low light thing is more a side-effect of needing uplighters in the living room. *grin* Fortunate, though. :)
