So the month is almost over. My aim was to finish editing Squirrels in Space. Have I done it? Nope. Bah. But I've got a lot further with Shed World and made some writing contacts, and despite the tiredness, I haven't had complete brain fade, which is nice. I've also written a dark piece of fanfic, which has (I think) very effective misdirection in it while also sticking to plausible characterisation. So that's good. :) And I have tomorrow off work, so I may get more done.
Speaking of which - Shana Tova! I wish you all a happy and sweet 5769. May it bring you all health and prosperity and joy.
I went to see the GP on Friday. This time I saw Dr Maloney, who seems to be a good doctor! Hurrah! I wanted to talk about managing CFS. She listened and took me seriously and asked good questions and as a result I went up to the blood clinic at Asda today and next Tuesday I'm going back to see Dr Maloney to talk about the results. There is, apparently, a new coeliac test out this year which is much better than the old one. Which I have, apparently, had back in 2003 when I came down with glandular fever, and it came up negative. But, apparently, my symptoms fit that rather well. So we'll see. I shall let you know. They're also re-checking my thyroid function and a few other things I can't remember. Also nerve function, since I have weird hot patches on one leg, and there's a link between CFS and auto-immune problems. Dr Maloney may refer me to the new CFS clinic which has been set up in the North Yorks area. Hurrah! And I may get tested for food intolerances! Yay!
In other health news, today my nose has been mostly running a marathon. Never mind, eh? I have tomorrow off work for Rosh Hashanah. I'm not going to shul - I have a cold and there's a bunch of elderly people there, and besides, I don't have a ticket and I can't get in to High Holy Day services without one. I am, however, meeting the wonderful
alasdair1076 for lunch. So that's a great way to spend some of the day, too.
So, the weekend. I took
alasdair1076 and his lovely wife over to Leeds market to go cloth shopping. Which is such a hardship for me. *grin* And Saturday evening was
rhube's flat-warming, which was lovely. Her crumble was really good! There was wine! And there were philosophers! And attempts at explaining fangirl squee and Doctor Who. I has the pattern for knitting a 5th Doctor (Peter Davidson) cricketing jumper - must source good yarn for it. Thank you for an excellent evening!
Sunday I headed over to see my silk pusher by way of Sue and India's in Leeds. Spent far too much money, but hey, lots of beautiful silk! And it's not all for me. I took all of his burgundy silk with gold stripe for my sister, since she wants it for curtaining. I just hope it'll be enough! And then far too short an evening my my beloved "lj user="ravenlas">, and bed. Which is where I should be now.
The stats:
Exercise: 13.5 miles on the bike with .5kg weights on my ankles (don't ask) (8.5 miles today). Weight: 154-153 lbs. Alcohol: 2 bottles of wine.
Squirrels in Space edits: chapters - 2 of 10 fully edited; 4 of 10 rearranged, replotted, with complete synopsis and scene-by-scene breakdown of the new bits I have to write.
Shed World: 1 story abandoned at 2,500 words, rewritten from another POV to 2,600 words so far.
Fanfic: Desperate Measures, over on my
the_proofreader lj, at 3,600 words, iirc. Part 2 to come some time later.
