I know a bunch of my friends are celebrating various festivals around now, so best wishes for your holy days.
Friday evening - came home early and waited for Steve to come round and look at the bathroom. He's the partner of a friend who I didn't work with, and seems a sound bloke. And he will rip out my old bathroom and fit my new bathroom if I let him know when I can get the timber people out to do the timber treatment work.
Went to
gaxx's game - much fun! We got to take out a house which was stalking a party member. *beam* So I didn't get to bed til midnight, then had to get up at 6 on Saturday as Adam was picking
ravenlas and me up to go to the Reenactors' Market outside Coventry.
Saturday - went to Coventry. ;-) The market was great, and I didn't spend a fortune, though I could have. The Drunken Monks and Jelling Dragon stalls did benefit from my presence, though; the former provided me with some nice bottles of mead (Oransey, spiced & whisky meads) and a bottle of Cairn O'Mohr oak leaf white wine, and the latter with a bone needle and a book on naalbinding.
Now, this book is great for beginners. It was written by the woman on the Jelling Dragon stall, and is called 'Nalbindning: The easiest, clearest ever guide!', by Nusse Mellgren. I heartily recommend it. Go look at their website. So now I'm making
ravenlas a hat. ;-)
Other sites to look at:
Paul Meekins military & history books - I want The Accomplisht Cook, by Robert Man, and The Medieval Tailor's Assistant by Sarah Thursfield.
History in the Making - furniture.
Plantagenet Shoes. Very nice!
Came home,
paul_marks turned up (sorry for having gone out for the afternoon), and then Derek came round. Pizza was eaten, alcohol imbibed, and it was a good evening. And I got to bed at midnight (after the time change), and then woke up at 6 to go to the loo, and again at 6:30 when I heard movement downstairs.
Paul was having an asthma attack, so I ended up heading round to Marcus' house to borrow an inhaler from
sunlessnick (thank you!) as Paul had forgotten to bring his. After which I couldn't go back to bed, so Sunday morning and afternoon were mostly spent doing naalbinding and playing WoW.
I made a big pan of mushroom soup, as
palmersperry came round with a box of mushrooms, and lots of apple crumble with the apples my sister gave me a couple of weeks ago. Then Terry and Clare came over and we had a short warmup, then headed off to Cert 18 with Paul in tow for the open mic night.
a_crow met us there. Terry and I did Don't Let It Bring You Down, Are You Lonely, Jesus in a Camper Van and Martha's Harbour. And people applauded lots and didn't snigger or leave, so I guess we did just fine. ;-)
So I got to bed at 11, and woke up around 6am. Bah. Need more sleep!
Tonight is salsa dancing. If I don't fall asleep in my chips.
A big hello to
lady_mortia, who has joined us on Livejournal. Yay!
