Parliament should be afraid of the people

ravenlas took me to Frankie and Benny's on Monday, and then we went to see V for Vendetta. It's very good - I may be going again on Sunday with friends. You know, I think that Parliament is afraid of the people. Why else would it be trying to pass all of these laws to keep people under control and out of democratic processes? Well, processes which should be democratic, but are getting less and less so. Given that there are almost 60 million people in this very small and not so great Britain, they appear to have forgotten that they are in control only while we can't be bothered doing anything about it. If we really wanted to get rid of them, there's no way they could stop us all. Their greatest 'control' over us is our disinterest and disorganisation.

Anyway, I'm not going into rant mode this morning. The sun is shining, and I finally remembered to set up a standing order for comics with Forbidden Planet in Sheffield. I have to go see if there are any comics in it this lunchtime. *beam* I've been doing some gcse maths stuff - it's slow going, but some of it's coming back to me. Some I swear we never did in my maths, though I can't see how we wouldn't... Maybe I just didn't get it then, either, so I ignored it. *shrug*

Dressmaking is going ok - I still have much to do on my dress, though, and we've broken up for Easter, so I'll have to get going on it over the next 2 weeks. Kate's hoodie is coming along. I'm doing one of the sleeves now, having worked out the pattern alteration for using a different gauge of yarn. I think I'll have to pull apart the top of the body, though, to enlarge the armholes. There's *no* armhole shaping in the pattern, which bothers me a little. I knitted the majority of the body in the round, which meant adapting the pattern further, and I think I needed to leave off knitting in the round a good few rows earlier. Meh. I'll see once I get the arms knitted, and the hood. Oh, I might need another ball of wool...

I've had some very useful feedback on my book, and now all I have to do is rewrite it. Which I really, really have to start before I speak with my Dad again... Lee from the writing group has it on his phone to read, and (how cool is this?!) made a little graphic for cover art for it. There's a starfield with a squirrel in a spacesuit helmet, and there's a *proper title* and everything! I'm very chuffed. *beam*

In other news, medains will be along to VJs on Saturday with his beloved and their baby, and will then potter over to my house where they can hold court for the afternoon for anyone who wants to come by and welcome Hugh to the expanding ex-Freaksoc clan. Yay!

Also, there's Darklands on Saturday, and the City Screen late showing is of MirrorMask, so I may have to hop on my bike and head into town. *happy dance*
