ellenscult: (melting)

Well, the weekend was really busy, so here's a run-down.

Thursday - met my brother, Mike, and stayed over at my parents' house in Huddersfield. It was lovely to see them all, and it was Mike's birthday too (just before) so it was extra special to see him. And I love visiting my mum and dad; they're wonderful people.

Friday - Mike drove me back to York and finally saw my house. Yay! And we had lunch at the Black Bull with the usual crowd, so he got to meet [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas too.

Put up my handrail on the stairs - it needs the ends finishing, and it needs varnishing, but at least it's up now.

Went to Marcus's and found Jim ([livejournal.com profile] kingwamba), Jen ([livejournal.com profile] katjabee) and Terri ([livejournal.com profile] fire_kitten) there; we all went for a potter in town, and then came back to my house, had takeout, and a party. Thanks to all who came - it was a really nice evening, and it was great to see you all.

Saturday - Drove Jim, Jen, Terri and Paul (Marks) (WINOLJ) to Scarborough, where souvenirs were duly exchanged, between Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival (in Texas) and the Scarborough Tourist Information board. Came back, slept a bit, then showed Jen the campus and cooked. Finished up the evening with a great game of Torches and Pitchforks with Jim and Jen while [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas dozed on the futon.

Sunday - Marcus and Terri came round and we all had breakfast, then Terri, Jim and Jen headed off back down to Nottingham, and [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas, Marcus (WINOLJ) and I were duly late to Yann's MERP game. I'd no idea the game started at 11 (if I knew, I'd forgotten), and was asked by Jerry 'Doesn't the game start at 11?' at 11:15 as he headed for the shower. MERP was good, despite my lack of anything approaching arsed points, a brain, or being awake. I'm not dead yet, which helps. ;)

So all that remains to be said about the weekend is a huge thank you to everyone who visited, especially the cold-ridden Terri, and Jim and Jen who are, as always, absolutely amazing. Enormous hugs to you, and I hope your journey back to the states goes really well. (No annoying children or people who put their knees in the backs of your chair, etc.)

Oh, made it to the station on time this morning, despite having left my bike there last week and leaving the house late. ;)

This week is going to be busy too.

Tonight and tomorrow evenings I'm heading out to visit people. Weds is belly dancing, but I suspect I may need an evening of complete comatose snuggling with [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas on the sofa in front of mindless tv. Thursday and Friday evenings, and all day Saturday and Sunday is this ISA course over in Bradford. At which point I shall collapse in a heap in the corner for a while.

Oh, and Passover is heading closer, so next week I suspect will be lots of cleaning the house on an evening. Must get to Leeds for matzo.

Pure entertainment:

Do I look like my name? A site which has photos of people. You pick what name you think they have. Which also provides the site with a straw poll, apparently showing that yes, people do look like their names.

Print your own G.W. Bush poster! This silly, silly site allows you to add whatever text you'd like. Well, it opens it up in acrobat. Which means it's editable. Not quite as fun as I first thought, but still worthy of an Oh Dear...

Got here..,
