In brief: went down to Tamworth on Friday (meeting
ravenlas on the train, and very glad I had a seat booked), was picked up by my big sister (much thinner than me), and eventually we found where we were staying. Ended up wearing the Karen Millen black dress and some ace shoes from Dorothy Perkins; Anne dusted my v. pale legs with bronzer so I didn't look too gothy, and we headed off to my brother Mike's wedding reception. Which was great. Got to meet lots of their friends and people from Wendy's family.
On the way back to the inn where we were staying, Anne took us (her friend Georgina, me, my twin,
ravenlas to the Belfry, a golf-course with a truly staggering dive of a nightclub. Really, really terrible. So of course I danced lots and lots, drank even more, laughed at the guy trying to hit on me at the bar, ignored the guys lurching around us on the dance-floor, and had a fantastic night. I think we left there at 3am, got back to the inn at 3:30, and I passed out shortly thereafter.
Saturday, 8am start, oh my goodness. Not too much hangover, just extreme tiredness. So no Drayton Manor theme park for us, no, we went to Lichfield Cathedral with Val and Mick, Anne and Mike's mum and stepdad. Lichfield Cathedral is really something - well worth a visit. And there are even memorials to Erasmus Darwin, Samuel Johnson and David Garrick inside, as well as vergers and, I guess docents (?) who really care about the place. You can go look round a working sacristy. And just outside the south door, over the road, is a coffee shop which does nice food, even if it does take ages to arrive on a busy Saturday afternoon. There was a wedding party gathering at the cathedral as we left the coffee shop. And there were men in kilts. So my sisters were happy. ;-)
Got back to York with no train hassle in good time for Dr Who - oh, back to cheesy, are we? How cheesy? More than a 4 cheeses pizza with extra cheese. So of course I enjoyed it! *beam* Especially for the look on Rose's face when the Doctor said, "I was a dad once". *heh* *evil grin* The preview for next week's one looks stonking, though, so I'm eagerly anticipating it.
Speaking of which, the House season finale looks pretty good. It very much looks as though the good doctor gets shot. Twice. Oh dear! So it must be watched...
Sunday, well, the gym, 3 loads of washing and 1 dishwasher load later, and I've finished my very first pair of knitted socks. The toes are a bit funny - the pattern's none too clear - but I'm wearing them today and my feet haven't exploded, so that's alright then. And today it are mostly back on my head. Meh.
