And thoughts turn to what lies after we've shuffled off this mortal coil... And because Neil Gaiman broaches the subject and reminds me of my procrastination... Here's a poll.
Well, my children's hospice have a free will-writing week in January...there's a catch, though..you're encouraged to leave a gift to http://www.bluebellwood.org
Sarah - never knowingly missing an opportunity for shameless propaganda!
Feel free to propagandise shamelessly! Please do let me know when and where, and if I can get there, I will do. I know I really should leave a will, otherwise if I get hit by a bus on the way home, I'll be leaving such a mess for my family to sort out. :(
Actually, right now you will, but once married, it really is not a big deal. The laws of intestate succession are pretty straight forward, and unless you want to do wierd bequests to odd freinds and distant relatives, it takes care of itself pretty well by doing an automatic per stripes distribution among spouse and children.
So, long story short: if you're intedning, like 90% of people to leave your estate to your kids, via your spouse, then a will , while always wise to have, isn't absolutely vital and won't be a big deal if you don't have one.
Hmmm, interesting! Maybe you should update it, then...
And I don't really think the state should have even more of my money than it's taken already. Not that it'll actually get any out of my estate, as there would be none left over.
