[livejournal.com profile] ravenlas had laser eye surgery on Friday. He went to the Vision Optical (sorry!) Express clinic in Leeds and they were very good. Only... they popped in the anaesthetic drops one eye straight after the other. By the time the drop went into the other eye, it was already watering. So when they came to cut the flap, his left eye wasn't properly anaesthetised. He worried everyone in the waiting room - including myself - by saying *extremely loudly* that he was in a lot of pain. The procedure seems to have gone okay, though, and after a traumatic trip home in which the sun caused even more pain through his darkest sunglasses and closed eyes, he's doing fine. His vision's good, his eyes are healing up just fine. It's been a touch stressful, though, and predictably, I've been very tired today.

So, knitting. I've got a lot done Friday and yesterday. I bought some Debbie Bliss Donegal Tweed which I thought might make a better sleeve, so now I have a sleeve done in that and one done in Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran.

The cardigan... - Which do you think? Either? Neither? I'm not convinced. So not convinced that I spent today starting to knit a shopping bag instead. Shopping bag top

Been a bit headachey to go with the tired, but I also spent a good while soaking in the bath, and this evening we used up the huge pile of veg in a chicken stew and garlic potatoes. Yum! And Transformers is on the tv.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] o_faolain, for the CD - I'll be putting it onto my ipod tomorrow. :)

Work tomorrow. *sigh*

The bag looks awesome :-)

I'm inclined to say neither for the sleeves, sadly. I think a darker tone of the existing body would look better. But that's just my opinion *grins*

Incidentally, both myself and Lady Blue have had laser surgery, so if you want to bounce queries, then feel free.

My write-up of the whole experience is here, if he's interested..

Incidentally, do you mean optical express?

Correcting astigmatism? I didn't even realise that was possible (I was told it wasn't possible by my optician. Although that could just be because my eyes are weird, I dunno).

Aye. Both Lady Blue and I had astigmatism, mine was minor, but Lady Blue's was reasonably high, both corrected fine initially, however whilst mine had retain the super vision I had after surgery lady Blue's has regressed slightly to about 20/20 in one eye.

My brain tells me neither. Perhaps something in a darker purple? The lilac, imo, is a better match than the pink, though.

Best of luck to [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas for his recovery. I hope everything heals quickly and the surgery did exactly what he wants it to have done.

I like the rialto arran. But the bag is very cool. Oh thanks for sending me that other pattern. I plan to start tackling it as soon as I can get some yarn.

he went for eye surgery *shudders* Ever since I saw that episode of The Simpsons where Homer got it done, never used his eyedrops and his eyes crusted over (i feel sick just thinking about it), I just get the heeby jeebies at the thought of getting it done.

Well actually... it was rather hilarious :)

Hope [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas heals quickly! Sorry it didn't go so smoothly for him. I completely understand having had a similar procedure started before the anesthetic kicked in - OUCH!

The shopping bag looks like it's gonna be really cute. (Sheepishly agrees with others here about the sweater. Sorry, I'm not fond of either one... a darker color would've been better though for the sleeves, though I think I'd prefer my sleeves to match anyway.) 8^D

Neither of the sleeves appeal to me, I agree with you on not being convinced. What is the original yarn? Have you thought of googling it and seeing if anyone has a few skeins for sale? I just hate being negative about things! Look on Ravelry to see if anyone has some stashed and ask if they would sell you some. Hey, ya never know!

Hope [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas heals quickly.

This gal says on her yarn list that she carries Sidar Donegal Tweed, you could email her:
http://www.baadeckyarns.com/index.htm

Granted she may not have taken it off her list or updated her site but it is worth a try.

Oh well, it was worth a try.
