Many thanks to all who turned up to my barbeque / party thingy on Saturday - it was absolutely wonderful to see you all, and my Jewish mother tendencies were well satisfied with the amount you all ate. Yay! Big thanks to Woody (winolj) for cooking for the first few hours, to Fleur (winolj) for bringing salad, to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
gothgrr for bringing chocolate brownie, to st3v3 for the fire twirling, and really, to all of you who made the afternoon and evening such a mellow, happy event. I had an amazing day - you all made it a very special event for me.
Biggest thanks of all go toravenlas, who missed out on his airsofting trip to stay home and help me get the house ready for the invasion, and helped me build the new sofa on Friday evening. Without such help, the party would have been far less fun.
Didn't get to see my brother on Sunday - I was far too tired to drive down to Coventry, even with having held off on drinking too much. I did get the new Stephen King Dark Tower book, though. And sawclotilde in Borders. And had the till have a network error, so I had to pay by card rather than by gift card.
Today, I've had not enough sleep, and I have tired eyes. I had a puncture on the way to the station, so I missed my train. On the good side, I got a lot read of the Orson Scott Card book, Enchantment, that I'm reading.
The release is finally ready to go out - so of course it's time to stay late and have Fun With Printerstm... I think, since going climbing tonight has been vetoed, that I am going to bake chocolate cake and take it into work tomorrow. I think we all need it.
So this, and snarky comments, have made me realise that we Brits are not meant for warm weather. And I need to laugh at life far more than I do. Fortunately,ravenlas cheers me up and makes me smile, so I'm getting less serious than I used to be.
