An update

A while back I posted about so-called animal rights activists who were terrorising a village. Well, they've just announced on the radio that these home-grown terrorists have seriously desecrated a grave of a relative of the people who own the guinea-pig farm. Fantastic. And that's supposed to achieve what, exactly?

The photo? It was taken in Roskilde, Denmark, at the sand festival. They had some very good sand sculptures. This one's meant to be the Norns; there's a third strut or norn at the back of this and the web goes between all 3. Each of the norns has a different texture.

And this icon, if memory serves, shows Thor after his battle with Old Age.

The attack on the grave of the 82 year old women and the stealing of some of her bones will not achieve anything positive for the animal rights people.

All it will mean is that most people will become angry with them and reject their cause with contempt.

The actual argument is a complex one (it rests on whether there are effective alternatives to using animals in medical experiments), but using tactics like this (and all the death threats and other stuff) the animal rights extremists tend to rule their side out of the argument.

Perhaps the only hope for mainstream animal rights people would be to deal with the extremists themselves.

As Marcus says, I'll have more time for animal rights activists when they volunteer to take the animals' places...
