Somewhat pedestrian...

My car was pinched on Friday night, some time after medains left at 12:30, and some time before the policeman knocked on my door at 9am on Saturday morning (just as I was getting out of the shower). Apparently whoever-it-was managed to drive it into a ditch at Gowthorpe (near Fang Foss, Wilberfoss, Pocklington). I have no idea what state it's in, but it's in a secure garage at Barmby Moor, and the insurance company will take it from there to Harrogate to have a look at it some time this week. Yay.

Apart from that, life is good; fine Halloween party at Elaine's on Saturday evening, and a good Werewolf session last night.

However, car loss has kinda scuppered plans to go see Aliens v Predators. So does anyone fancy going to see it who can (very kindly) offer a lift to myself and ravenlas?

Given the choice, I would go for 18:30 and pick the two of you up from your house around 18:10.

did the police catch the people who stole it or just find the car abandoned?

They found it abandoned, with the engine still hot. Apparently it was foggy where the police helicopter was, or they'd have sent it out to look for the thieves. Bah.

Just called the police garage, and found out that it was still driveable cos they drove it round to see, and it's just been taken over to Harrogate for the insurance people to look it over.

Large piles of cash would be great, but given that it's an H-reg 1.3 Astra automatic with only 60,000 miles on the clock, I doubt they'll pay out more than a couple of hundred quid. *shrug*

What a bummer! I admit that I had to think a moment when you said that car was pinched. Another case of the differences in British and American English. Over here we would probably say that it was stolen or swiped. It's good to hear that at least it was recovered and it's in driveable condition!

I really should remember that! ;-) I'm glad they didn't hurt anyone else, more than anything. And I'm glad it seems reasonably ok. I guess I'll hear from the insurance soon. At least it wasn't torched! *big grin*
