European Historical Combat Guild
Combat Principles for Re-enactors
The Nottingham Chapter of the EHCG is pleased to offer this 2 day Seminar which is aimed at giving a working knowledge of the Guild's core principles for use on the re-enactment field, or as a useful tool in studying Historical European Combat systems.
It is to be held on Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd of January 2005 at the Sport Nottingham Health and Fitness Complex,
The West Stand,
Meadow Lane,
Nottingham.
NG2 3HJ.
The cost for the two-day course will be £60.00 per person.
The content of this course will be focused less on individual weapon techniques, but rather on the essential principles of balance, movement, distance and timing which are relevant to all weapons. This will be useful to both newcomers to re-enactment, as well as those `old salts' who want to improve their fighting abilities. This course will also benefit those who are starting to become involved in `western martial arts'.
Course Outline:
Day 1
Stance
Passing Footwork
Principles of Attack
Principles of Defence
Distance
Drills
Day 2
Exercises and drills using day 1s knowledge, applied to several weapon types
By the end of the course you should have an understanding of these core principals and have a number of drills that you can use to practice these principals to make them usable on the field.

I'm thinking of going to see The Incredibles on Saturday (preview showings at Vue), and take Jerry to Frankie and Benny's first for a meal as an early birthday thing. There are hourly showings from 9am, so I can arrange this to suit those going to Fleur's birthday bash in the evening. Does anyone want to come along too?
