I got a few hundred words written on Thunder Moon last night, and some today on the train. I reckon I'm about up to speed. Hurray! So maybe I'll have the first draft knocked out by Christmas. We'll see...
I made it to the gym today, but my gym buddy wasn't there. I can't complain, as I've not been there for the past 2 weeks. I can run with less effort, but I really have to do more exercise, as I suspect the weight's coming back...
The bad: the heavens opening just as I got to Allied Carpets, on Foss Islands Road. On my bike. I didn't have to wait more than a few seconds for the lights to change. Just long enough to think, 'oh, when I get through the lights and round the corner (a distance of around 50 yards, if anyone's interested. Maybe 100 at a stretch) I'll stop and put my waterproofs on. And then, 'never mind, too late' as I cycled through the junction with the rain beating down on me, and my jeans already soaked through and sticking to my knees.
And it was raining in Sheffield when I got off the train, and was too windy to put up my umbrella for very long.
3.5 hours after that first deluge, my jeans are still damp around the knees and shins, and my coat is still drying on the radiator.
The good: getting some writing done; sorting out which agent I really want to send Squirrels off to first; typing this on the roll-up keyboard which
ravenlas got me. *big grin*
The action on it is a little weird. It feels, well, rubbery. No surprise there. The keys are raised more than I thought they would be, so it actually takes a little more effort to type on. The keys are also spaced what feels like a tad further apart, although comparing it with my standard Dell keyboard, it's the same size and spacing. Weird, huh? Anyway, it wouldn't be any good for typing on my knee with, as it needs to be laid out on a solid surface. But it's fine for typing on a desk with, and it washable. So all the crud that fall onto it from my lunch won't get the chance to fester. Bwa ha ha!
I suppose I should go and do some work, now...
