Okay, since getting back from the US, my life has been pretty much like this:

*runs around lots* *occasionally falls over*

Technical stuff about wireless bluetooth headsets for using with iPods... )

And now it's back to regularly scheduled programming. So: supernoodles.

Edit: I have given in. I have a MySpace account. No, this has nothing to do with finding Nathan Fillion's blog. Why do you ask?

Free bed!

So, Chaverim supper over in Leeds last night was lovely, especially seeing my friend Miriam. I ran away very early and came home to find [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas still not home. And it turns out he was still at work. Fixing one of their servers, or somesuch. Until midnight. On his own - in blatant breach of health and safety regulations, but hey, what do you do when everybody else f*cks off for the weekend? For which he'll get no thanks. I'm *so* not impressed.

Today, well, bed disassembly went quickly. Does anyone want a pine double bed, slatted base, sprung mattress, and most importantly - 4 poster attachment? New bed assembly went quite quickly, and we now have a very nice oak-base, pine slats again, but far more substantial. Tatami mats. Memory foam mattress. We lay down on it, and found it incredibly difficult to get up again. Because it was so comfy, before your imaginations start kicking into overdrive - and don't deny it, you at the back, there, yes you, stop sniggering. *heh*

Then we wandered into town, had a quick lunch at the Willow, then got new phones from the Phones4U shop. Does anyone know anything about the Sony Ericsson K610i? In case anyone's interested, it's a £15/month contract with 3, 500 minutes, 18 month contract, and I got them to throw in a bluetooth headset. *big grin* Should do me just fine. If I can work out how to use it, that is - I've been on Nokia phones for so long, I've no idea how to use a different operating system... How sad am I? Meh.

Oh, and from Browns, 2 Egyptian cotton bed sets - 2 fitted + 2 flat sheets + 4 pillowcases - £18. Marked down at half price, then BOGOF. *happy dance*

Anyway, tomorrow will be a trip down to Robin Hood airport so I can find it, Xscape on the way back to look at ski boots, followed by a trip to see Hot Fuzz at Vue. I know [livejournal.com profile] a_crow and [livejournal.com profile] greynolds are going, and [livejournal.com profile] sunlessnick - anyone else? Drop me a text, or somesuch.

Humbug!

I got a few hundred words written on Thunder Moon last night, and some today on the train. I reckon I'm about up to speed. Hurray! So maybe I'll have the first draft knocked out by Christmas. We'll see...

I made it to the gym today, but my gym buddy wasn't there. I can't complain, as I've not been there for the past 2 weeks. I can run with less effort, but I really have to do more exercise, as I suspect the weight's coming back...

The bad: the heavens opening just as I got to Allied Carpets, on Foss Islands Road. On my bike. I didn't have to wait more than a few seconds for the lights to change. Just long enough to think, 'oh, when I get through the lights and round the corner (a distance of around 50 yards, if anyone's interested. Maybe 100 at a stretch) I'll stop and put my waterproofs on. And then, 'never mind, too late' as I cycled through the junction with the rain beating down on me, and my jeans already soaked through and sticking to my knees.

And it was raining in Sheffield when I got off the train, and was too windy to put up my umbrella for very long.

3.5 hours after that first deluge, my jeans are still damp around the knees and shins, and my coat is still drying on the radiator.

The good: getting some writing done; sorting out which agent I really want to send Squirrels off to first; typing this on the roll-up keyboard which [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas got me. *big grin*

The action on it is a little weird. It feels, well, rubbery. No surprise there. The keys are raised more than I thought they would be, so it actually takes a little more effort to type on. The keys are also spaced what feels like a tad further apart, although comparing it with my standard Dell keyboard, it's the same size and spacing. Weird, huh? Anyway, it wouldn't be any good for typing on my knee with, as it needs to be laid out on a solid surface. But it's fine for typing on a desk with, and it washable. So all the crud that fall onto it from my lunch won't get the chance to fester. Bwa ha ha!

I suppose I should go and do some work, now...
