This post isn't friends-locked. Fingers crossed, eh?

Following up on my last post... )

So what does this mean for you and me right now? It means I'm throwing one last party, a farewell to York.

For obvious reasons, it won't be at my house, so it will be at VJ's, on the evening of the 21st of February. It's a Sunday, yes, because they're booked already for the Saturday, but they're going to open up especially for us. So please do come along, even if it's only for an hour. I'll post times when I've talked with the manager on Saturday. If you can make it, please let me know, either in comments here or drop me an email, so that I can let them know this Saturday roughly how many people should be turning up.

Please come, so I can say thank you for being a part of my life for so long, for being amazing, wonderful, incredible friends, for letting me love you (that won't change). And if not for that, come because I'll raid my laughable savings account and hopefully have munchies and booze available for a while at least, until it all gets eaten and drank and you have to buy your own drinks.

Oh, and if I've borrowed anything of yours, now is a really, really good opportunity to remind me so I can give it back. Just saying.

The best of luck to you all, and may this year turn out to be a good one for you all.

Actually, pretty much all the decisions are made. We still have a few things to sort out, such as heading over to NI to see [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas's extensive family, and throwing a party here.

So this is my countdown!

I finish work on Tuesday evening.
We fly out on Thursday.
We get married a week on Friday.

Hurray!

I am very excited, and if you try contacting me right now, you'll probably go deaf from the very loud and high-pitched *squeeeee* which is running through my head. Also, concentrating on work is next-to-impossible. Not helped by waking up from a dream yesterday with 'Mister Benn and the Men From Afghanistan' sitting in my head making me all spacey. Yes, it's that Mister Ben(n). No, it's not really for kids.

I am cold. I need lunch. And stockings. And a brain. Ooh, but my weight's down under *coughmumbleelevenstonecough* for the first time in at least 18 months. So that's good.

In my head, I'm running round in circles, waving my arms like a muppet. Really. Hear that squee!

Review!!!

I got a review!

*squee*

And it was good! *happy dance of much frog-in-blenderness*

Okay, it might not be such a big deal for the pro writers on my f-list. Still, it's a review of the second story I've ever had published. It makes me happy. )

The rest of Hub's flash fiction special is reviewed too, with decent reviews going to our [livejournal.com profile] rhube and [livejournal.com profile] stevecooperorg, and the best review going to our very own [livejournal.com profile] alasdair1076. Hurrah!

I can has MacBook! Courtesy of the love of my life, I have a very sleek matt-black 13" 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4Gb 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM laptop sitting beside me. Called Armitage (points for spotting the reference). I freely confess I am an Apple fan. I love their stuff, especially on the rare occasions when their stuff becomes my stuff. I love the attention to detail, the little touches which make things, all in all, a joy to use. In short, I squee.

This... is gorgeous. And one of the very first things I did - right after running software update and turning on the firewall - was to buy a copy of Scrivener. This morning, I began work on the import of Squirrels In Space. So it may finally get the edit it needs! And then there's Thunder Moon to finish in first draft, and several short stories to complete, and a couple of reviews to write.

Oh, and just because I can, I've set up a project for keeping track of wedding stuff. How sad am I? Very! And I don't care. I have lots of squee today, so if any of you are feeling short on squee, give me a shout and I'll send some over.

Counting down: hen do - 10 days, flight out - 22 days, wedding - 30 days.

Squeeeee!

I have a slight touch of the jitters.

This would appear to be because of the nearness of this whole wedding business - not because it's a wedding, oddly enough, but because it involves going places and other people. For all my bounce and my love of you guys, doing stuff with other people always makes me slightly stressed beforehand. Odd, nu? *shrug*

Counting down: there are 32 days to go to the Big Day, and 12 until my hen do. Confirming my suspicions that this will be the best non-standard hen-do ever, 2 more friends will be coming along, another friend would say she'll be there, but she still has a nagging feeling she's already supposed to be doing something else and she can't remember what the heck it is, and [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas (possibly buoyed by the presence of other men on this trip) has changed his mind and said he'll come. Yay! He has no stag do planned. Then again, he has no wish for a stag do. Still, I'm glad he's coming out too. *beam*

If anyone wants to come to Bradford for curry and beer and wanderings round the Media museum, you're welcome to join us. I'll be the one *not* on a diet for the day.

Ooh, and speaking of which - the diet works. I'm down over 8lbs, and The Skirt bit of The Dress zips up. Yes!!!

Yarrr!

Climbing this lunchtime - did five 4+ routes. One seconded on a slight overhang. One gratuitous cheat. One grab at an arrete. One really bridgey but actually doable, surprisingly. One set of 2 holds which, when viewed from the right angle, are hugely rude. I call that a win.

Weight: down 6lbs since last Monday. The Dress will fit, I tells ya! 42 days and counting...

Counting down: 25 days to the hen do, 37 days until we fly, 45 until the Big Day!

I figure I might as well do the book report thingummy. So.

1. Chris Roberson - The Dragon's Nine Sons: Book report - contains spoilers )

The Dragon's Nine Suns will be published in February. All-in-all, it's well worth a read. And if you can't wait until it's published, you can always go to Solaris Books, where you can read a free chapter, or read Three Unbroken, which is free. It's another novel about the Celestial Empire and the Second Mexica War, with a new chapter being loaded up each week.

Next up? The new Iain M. Banks novel, Matter, also published in February.
