ellenscult: (unbelievable)
My work PC - still quite new - is a wee bit buggered1. It's probably a motherboard problem. Which means that I'm using my Tablet PC to get some work done. And that *gasp* has no internet access at work. It's also not on our network. Meh. *shrug* I'm using a colleague's PC to have a quick look at my email, but I can't sit here all afternoon reading LJ. Damn! So I shall be doing my best to catch up tonight, but between sewing an outfit for Tewkesbury and going to writing group (remember: at the Golden Fleece tonight), I may not have enough time...

I'm suffering from Doctor Who fanfic withdrawal...

Anyway, the Doncaster line (and station) were open finally this morning. Coming in, it was painfully obvious where the rivers had flooded. Some of the mud-lines on trees and hillsides were incredibly high. I'm very glad I got out of Sheffield and Doncaster last Monday when I did - could very easily have been one of the stranded.

Wot I did stuff: Friday - a spot of D&D; Saturday - drove down to just north of Nottingham so [livejournal.com profile] ravenlas could pick up a medieval tent (from Past Tents), lunch at VJs, paid off half the remaining balance on his wedding ring, knitted, watched Doctor Who *squee*, went to [livejournal.com profile] st3v3 and [livejournal.com profile] cfw's party (through a rainstorm with amazing clouds) and knitted some more; Sunday - saw friends, hung out laundry, took it in again (repeat for the entire afternoon), edited a story, started making my shift; Monday - helped put up said tent with much grump and argh and grr, continued with shift.

1. That's a technical term.

I'm sitting at home, watching pictures of the flooding in Sheffield on the BBC breakfast news. My goodness! Apparently, yesterday was the wettest (June) day since records began. A month's worth of rain fell in a day. And June is usually fairly soggy.

Sheffield station is flooded, so I won't be in work for a while. Yes! Ooh, sorry, did I say that? Well, I have work to do, and a medieval outfit to make, and books to put into storage and suchlike, so I have plenty to keep me occupied. And if I run out of stuff to do? There's always the armoury to paint...

Ooh, and it's Wimbledon!
