Doctor Who! Awesome! Squeeeee!

I can hear the fangirls slashing from here...

*beam*

Is it next Saturday yet, plz?

In other news, the house is emptier, the storage locker is almost full, and the bathroom is painted and has laminate down. I may have found a couple of wood beetle thingummies, though, so I'm going to have to get the guys from TimberTech back to have a look. And there's someone coming to view the house in the morning. *fingers crossed*

I have a story up on The Slant! (A sarcastic and cynical news feed.) Yay!

[livejournal.com profile] paul_marks is up visiting, which is nice.

I cycled out to the Balloon Tree farm shop and back to get a lot of veg, lamb and beef. It's about, ooh, a 12 mile round trip. Along busy roads. But no cars tried to kill me, though one 4x4 did try overtaking a learner on the other side of the road, thereby coming right towards me. It's a good job the road was wide enough - nowhere for me to go. Meh. Still, maybe the idiot driver will be a bit more observant next time - he got truly beeped at by other drivers.

After lunch, I cleaned out my veg drawer at the bottom of the fridge, then decided to clear out my cupboards and rearrange them. So now I have a full compost heap (bags of flour dating back 2 years, very out of date rice cakes, etc), and cupboards where I can find things (all in date), and actual space in my cupboard to put away my food processer. Go me! For dinner I did: chicken fillets on a bed of onion, celery, apple, apricots with honey, in a sauce of a little bit of chopped garlic, some mustard, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger and orange juice, with lime juice. And roast carrot, parsnip and celeriac. Sprouts with chestnuts. Mashed potatoes and swede. Yummy!

[livejournal.com profile] ravenlas came back from town with Battlestar Galactica season 1 - and a bag full of lush stuff for me. I love him! He's so thoughtful! So if you don't hear from me for a while, it's because I'm getting all prune-like in the bath. At this point, it'd be a good thing to have a second loo in the house. Oh well! *shrug* *evil cackle*

In which our heroine gets some excercise, is more organised, less organised, and has cheesecake... )

And all this is writing-avoidance. So I'm going to grab another cup of tea and buckle back down. I want to get 2 short stories finished off and get back onto book editing if poss.

But first, a belated shout-out...

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] palmersperry, for yesterday!

Just go read it, mkay? Made me chortle merrily, anyway.

The bathroom is now tiled. Yay! If you need tiling doing, Bob from Ceramica Tiling is fantastic and a lovely bloke. Give him your business!

The bathroom is now covered in plasterboard which is actually straight all the way up, unlike the walls behind it. I don't envy plasterers - the art of plastering must surely involve sacrificing small rodents to dark gods... If anyone is contemplating having some plastering done and wants to come and judge the quality of the work, feel free to call round.

The loo is plumbed in until a week on Thursday. Yay! This is because the tiler isn't coming til a week on Friday, with luck with the tiles in tow.

An unexpected discovery could yield a full spectrum solar cell. Apparently that would up the efficiency of solar cells to around 66% - a vast increase on where they are now. I wonder... Would covering the poles with solar cells during the summer months help to stop the ice-caps melting?

A very quick run-through of wot I 'ave bin up too: )

Bad teeth!
